Director of Quality Engineering
In today’s fast-changing digital world, people are interacting with machines more than ever before. Whether it’s crossing the street, opting for self-checkout at the store, taking public transport or walking through a crowded pedestrian area – our daily lives are now laden with automation. Unfortunately, this increased level of automation doesn't correlate with how much the machine understands human behaviour.
Humanising Autonomy develops technology built around people. We teach machines to understand human behaviour through computer vision software, so that any human/machine interaction is safer, more efficient, effective – and importantly, more human.
We are now looking for a proactive, curious, social and organised Director of Quality Engineering to help discover and deliver products that benefit our customers.
We are becoming a company which puts building a seamless, scalable product on an equal footing with research. This product will work in bespoke hardware (such as dash cams), on premises, and as a SaaS platform. Joining us now will be a unique opportunity to influence the rapid growth of a very strong engineering team and ensure that quality is baked into everything we do.
What you will be doing:
Devising an approach for developing a world class quality posture.
Working with the VP of Engineering and the wider leadership team to establish best in class engineering culture in which quality and continuous improvement are baked in.
Establish a metrics drive approach to quality engineering
Work with the Head of Delivery to ensure that customer quality concerns are addressed if and when they occur.
Working with our Head of Delivery to ensure that our supply partners (chip manufacturers, camera manufacturers etc.) are delivering to quality which matches our expectations and those of our customers
Influencing the technology & engineering strategy and in particular the role of quality within it.
Holding the VP of Engineering and CTO to account, and ensuring that the team are following a quality by design approach at all times.
We are looking for someone who has:
A positive attitude around quality. We believe that quality should be focussed on getting things right the first time, and not about “testers raising as many bugs as they can”.
A passion for growing people and experience in instilling a sense of pride in the product which they deliver.
Experience of, not just implementing quality controls through DevOps style automation, but also ascertaining which controls are appropriate and necessary and selecting suitable technology to enable those controls. This is not a technical role, however, you will be working with amazing engineers who can help implement these controls.
A problem solving approach who will view blockers and impediments as challenges which need to be overcome.
What’s in it for you:
- Working with a small and exciting team of engineers, social scientists and commercial talent to shape the future!
- Have a big say in how the company runs itself
- Competitive salary and share options
- Personal Development budgets
- Pension Scheme
- 25 days holiday per annum + bank holidays
- Flexible working hours
- 26 weeks Paid Mat/Paternity leave
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Beautiful office in Somerset House in Central London
- A "work where you work best" policy -home or office- you decide!
The role will involve large responsibility and autonomy within the company, and require the ability to work both independently as well as part of a creative core team of designers, data scientists, and engineers.
Your work will impact how autonomous systems will interact with people - a field whose relevance is rapidly expanding, and from which you can expect a fast-moving adventure!
If this sounds like the job for you, we'd love to hear from you!
